How to start shopping online

Sometimes with a client there may not be a car available for you to do the shopping. You may also find yourself in a remote area where there simply are no local shops, and you have to resort to asking the family/friends to shop for you and your client or find another way.

Online shopping is a great way when there are no other alternatives, and many large supermarkets like Tesco, Morrisons and Safeway all deliver to their clients.

How do you start online shopping?

Research your supermarkets and select the one that is closest to you. This will ensure that your shopping is delivered to you in a timely manner.

Once you have found the supermarket to use, you will need to register with them. This is easily done online. You will find a form to complete with contact details and a delivery address section.

Add a debit card. You will be asked for a payment method, either your own or your client’s debit card. If using your client’s card, be sure to check with family/next-of-kin and get permission to do this.

Once your account is set up, you will find a drop-down menu with a section on products you wish to order. From here it is simply a matter of selection the item you want and how many (as in the case of fruit and veggies) and adding them to your list.

Once you have chosen your shopping you will be asked to enter a delivery date which suits you. There are normally many hours to choose from, ranging from early in the morning to late in the afternoon or evening. Simply pick a day and time that suits your schedule. You will need to pay for the delivery in most cases and you will find that some delivery times are significantly cheaper than others.

You will be prompted to pay for your shopping and use the debit card on file or add a new one.

Once your payment has been accepted you will receive confirmation of the amount you are being charged and the date you have chosen for delivery.

You can expect the delivery driver to arrive within your ‘window’, such as between 8 – 9 am on Tuesday. He or she will unload several containers which will hold your groceries and make sure that you have everything on your order.

The delivery driver will also tell you of any item which has not been delivered (maybe because it was not in stock).

The delivery person will give you a final printed receipt of all you have ordered and the amount it added up to.

Final thoughts

These days online shopping and delivery is becoming more and more popular, with supermarkets making it easy for you to do, thus saving you valuable time. If you find that you need to do the shopping in your much needed break, then this is something that you should seriously consider.
