Now, it is to be hoped that we never leave our clients alone with burning candles because of the risk of fire, but perhaps over the holiday period, or at a birthday, there may be candles around. Spilling hot wax onto furniture can damage it, although trying to get it off may cause even more damage.
Removing wax from furniture
It is never a good idea to try to scrape the wax off furniture as this can scratch the furniture. Additionally, trying to scrape the wax off furniture fabric will do more damage.
The best way to remove wax from furniture is to fill a plastic bag with ice cubes and place this over the wax. Leave it for several minutes until the wax has hardened and cooled. Once the wax has set hard it will be easy to lift it off without damaging the furniture.
And from carpets
A good way to remove wax from carpets is to place a paper bag over the wax and use a steam iron to lift the wax off. The steam helps lift the wax from the carpet and causes it to cling to the paper instead.
Removing crayon from walls
Hopefully, when little people visit granny they are kept under control. However, sometimes they can sneak off and get into mischief. Drawing on a wall with crayons is one pastime many little people enjoy and removing it can be difficult.
Use a hairdryer on the offending part of the wall. You will find that this softens the crayon wax, and it can easily be wiped off with a soft cloth.
