How to make the best salad dressings

For many people, the last thing they think of when getting a salad ready is the dressing. Now, while salad may be healthy to eat, it can become plain and boring if it is served in the same way every time. Adding a different salad dressing will liven things up and create a different flavor every time.

Even if your client eats the same salad ingredients every time and refuses to change, simply changing the dressing for yourself and your client can add variety to the meal.

Here are three different ways to dress up a salad.

Honey mustard dressing

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tablespoon mustard, prepared

  • 1 tablespoon clear honey

  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice (add more if you like)

Mix all ingredients together and store in the fridge until you are ready to add to salad.

Yogurt mint dressing

  • 1 x 150g carton natural yogurt or Greek yogurt if you prefer

  • Squeeze of lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

  • Dash of sea salt and ground black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon chopped mint (you can also use mint sauce from a jar)

Mix together in a bowl, cover, and refrigerate until ready to use.

French dressing

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable or extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon grated shallot (omit if you don’t enjoy these)

  • ½ teaspoon Dijon-style mustard

  • Freshly ground black pepper and a dash of salt to taste

Mix, taste, and season with extra pepper if needed. Place in the fridge until ready to use.

Final thought

Summer is definitely the time for salads but serving the same thing day after day can become boring. By adding a different salad dressing, you can literally change the style of each meal, every day.
