As the temperatures warm up you may find that you start to see moths about the house. They are often found outside but can and do make their way inside, particularly into wardrobes.
Moths and their larvae are most active at night and often hide or sleep during the daylight hours. Not only will they destroy clothing, but they will also destroy carpets and any other materials. They are extremely destructive.
Like ants, moths seem to be difficult to get rid of and your client may want you to resort to moth balls. Very few live-in carers enjoy their clothes smelling of these so finding an alternative that does the job well and smells less offensive is a good idea. You may also be opposed to using chemicals to get rid of these pests.
A natural way to rid the house of moths is to use bay leaves. It seems that moths detest the smell of bay leaves.
Bay leaves are readily available at any supermarket, in the herbs and spice section. Places in a small bag with holes in to release the smell is an easy way to rid wardrobes of the pests.
Placing a small bowl of bay leaves in the bathroom will ensure that they do not attack towels and face cloths.
Another good idea is to buy a bay leaf plant. Most garden centres will have these or be able to order one for you. Once you have decided where the ideal place for the bay plant is you can pick the leaves as often as you need and place them around the house.
Whether you choose to just buy bay leaves or invest in a plant, this is an excellent and inexpensive way to get rid of moths in the house.
