It is not uncommon to arrive at a placement where the window frames are old and not in the best of condition.
Condensation will form when water vapour condenses into a liquid such as when the surface of the inside glass cools below the dewpoint of the surrounding air.
Here are four tips to stop condensation from forming on the inside of your windows.
1. Remove any houseplants
Occasionally your bedroom may have houseplants in it. The more you have in your room, the more moisture will be in the air and the more you will have condensation on the inside of the windows. Just moving any plants to another room will almost eliminate condensation.
2. Use fans when showering
Showering will make the house very humid, no matter where it is located. It is a good idea to turn on the fan when using the shower. Turn on any other fans you may have as this will help to keep the windows moisture free.
3. Buy a dehumidifier
A dehumidifier will remove moisture from the air. This will help to keep windows free from condensation. Place the dehumidifier as close to the window as possible, or near to where you see condensation on the windows.
4. Watch where you dry clothes
It may be an issue drying clothing in the winter months unless you have a well-ventilated tumble drier but leaving clothing to dry inside the house will significantly increase moisture inside and cause condensation on windows.
If you simply cannot dry clothing outdoors, then at least dry it away from your bedroom so that your own windows stay moisture free.
Final thoughts
Having condensation constantly on the inside of the windows will eventually cause mold issues and if you have any respiratory problems such as asthma, your chest will become infected.
Better to try as best you can to keep condensation off your bedroom windows. Open the windows whenever you can to allow good ventilation and dry clothing in another area.
