Often live-in carers who come from other countries may not have a fixed address in the UK. While most of the time this may be fine, there may be some instances where you need an address to receive post such as debit and credit cards.

Sometimes, for a fee, your agency may offer a mail forwarding service where you can use their address to have your post sent and then forwarded on to wherever you are working with a client.

There are many mail forwarding services in the UK where you can have sign up for an address for post to be sent.

Note that these may not be used for opening bank accounts or adding your name to the electoral roll, and they all require identification such as passports before opening an account.

 

These addresses can be used for receiving driver’s licenses, bank statements and most other post, although you cannot use the address to apply for a driving license.

 

How long before the address becomes valid?

As soon as you have chosen your requirements and paid the fee, the address is valid and can be used. Some companies offer a read and scan service as well as a forwarding option.

 

Final thoughts

Bear in mind that most companies send out mail every Friday, although they can send out monthly or daily if you ask them.

Additionally, if you go away and need your mail to be held until you arrive back in the UK, this is also an option.
