Whether you are employed by an agency or work as a private live-in carer you may want to think about having insurance. In fact, many agencies insist on this before they send you to a client.
Public Liability Insurance provides cover for bodily injury to others (your client) and damage to property which belongs to other people
Personal accident insurance provides cover for you should you suffer accidental injury while you are working. This insurance will not cover pre-existing conditions, diseases, and events which happen due to natural causes.
There are only a handful of insurance companies in the UK which will cover live-in carers.
Fish Insurance and Blue Badge Mobility are two which will happily cover live-in carers. Both have been designed with carers in mind.

Final thoughts
It is important that as a live-in carer you have some sort of insurance to protect yourself while you are working. As with all jobs, it is possible to make mistakes. Carers live under stress most of the time and are often tired. Mistakes can and do happen.
Take a little time to research this subject, you will find that it is not expensive with most companies accepting monthly premiums or annual ones. For your own peace of mind, it is important to have personal and public liability cover.
