Wooden flooring is beautiful and with the right care and maintenance, can stay looking great for many years. These days most wooden floors are made of durable and hardwearing materials, although they still need some caring inf they are to stay looking great.
Spills
The most important thing with a wooden floor is to protect it from unwanted damage. This includes spills. Be sure to wipe any up right away. Because the wood has a top layer of oil or lacquer it will be protected for a while against spillage, although with time the spill will soak into the wood.
Scratches and dents
Ideally, the feet of any furniture should be placed on scratch protector pads. These look like small dishes which are designed to fit under each foot and keep it from scratching the wood.
Although your client may wear slippers or shoes with soft soles, you should also be aware of your own shoes which can scratch the floor, particularly if you have walked in from the road. Ideally, you should take outdoor shoes off on wooden floors.
How to clean a wooden floor
It is a good idea o clean a wooden floor daily, or at least give it a sweep over to remove any loose debris. You can use a vacuum cleaner to do this if it does not scratch the floor as you drag it around.
