While it is great at the end of a busy day, to soak in a bath, there is nothing worse than seeing the bath with dark stains around the sides. Cleaning off old stains can prove to be a difficult task, but there are several ways to do this quickly and easily.
Use dishwasher powder
While the more expensive dishwashing detergent comes in pods that you simply add to the machine, it is the cheaper detergent which works well for cleaning the bath.
Crush about ¼ cup of detergent and mix with water to make a firm paste. Avoid using a metal spoon to mix, rather use a wooden spoon or spatula.
Apply the mixture to the bath ring and scrub using a firm brush. Leave to stand and rinse after 20 minutes.
Grab the shampoo
Squeeze some shampoo directly onto the stain and scrub with a firm brush. The stain will lift in no time at all, and the bath can then be rinsed out.
White vinegar
The acetic acid dissolves bath stains even when other mixtures do not work. Use a spray bottle and spray the bath ring.
In a few minutes, the stain will soften, and you can scrub it away with a firm brush.
Note: never use vinegar and bleach together as this can create a toxic gas which can affect you and your client’s breathing. Additionally, do not use vinegar on marble or granite baths.
Vinegar and baking soda
This is another powerful mixture. When mixed together, these will create a bubble mixture.
Make a paste from the baking soda and water. Rub onto the bath ring.
Now spray a solution of half water, half vinegar into the baking soda onto the stain. You will notice that it starts to bubble. When it stops bubbling wipe away with a sponge or brush.
Finally – use coffee ground
Yes, this does work. Simply rub the grounds over the stain and buff it off. Now rinse the bath with warm water and you will have a sparkling clean bath every day!
