As summer gets underway you may find that the house becomes uncomfortably warm. Sometimes leaving the windows open may not be a good idea, particularly if there is a risk of burglary. Having a decent fan may be the best option to keep rooms cool.
The room size
Knowing the size of the room you want to cool is important. You need to buy a fan with the correct power and airflow capacity for the room.
Measure the room by length and breadth, then multiply these to give you a square footage measurement. Once you have this measurement you will be able to refer to the fan specifications and see if it suits the room size.
The noise of the fan
Most fans will make some noise, some are louder than others so you should consider where the fan will be placed.
If it is to be used in a bedroom, make sure that it is not loud enough to keep you away. Additionally, make sure that the noise does not interfere with the TV. Check whether the fan has a silent mode or whisper quiet operation mode.
Adjustable settings
Ideally the fan should have multiple settings such as direction and intensity. These will allow you to have the fan constantly moving around or standing still, on full blast or low airflow.
Pick an energy efficient model
This will keep the running costs down. Fans with high energy ratings will save you money in the long run, while still keeping the rooms cool.
Summer is a great time. It can also be uncomfortably hot and muggy. Having a portable fan is a great idea because rather than buying one for every room in the house, you can simply take the fan with you when you move to another spot.
