If your client wears a hearing aid, then eventually when you are with them you will find that the battery needs replacing.
How do you know if it needs replacing?
The most common way to tell if the battery needs replacing is when you can hear the hearing aid beep. Often the beeping will continue until the battery is completely flat.
There is another type of hearing aid where the beep only happens four times as the final beep before the battery runs out.
Either way, when you hear the hearing aid start to beep you should take it as a sign that the battery needs replacing.
How to replace the battery
You should hear when you close the hearing aid, a tone or a jingle which tells you that the battery is installed the right way up.
Before you install the new battery, you should always check the area for any moisture. If there is moisture you need to wipe it up with a tissue before you place the new battery inside.
Remember that it may take a few minutes for the new battery to start to work.
If you have a battery tester to use you should simply place the battery on the surface of the tester. The positive side should always face upwards. The instructions will tell you to move the battery until it is in position and in the direction of the arrow. Then you will be able to read the results on the tester display.
