How to book cheap flights

Every live-in carer who travels home to another country knows the stress of booking a flight. Not only do prices seem to go up and down, but sometimes we may have to book a flight a day later just to get an affordable price.

Is there a good time to book flights?

Experts call the ideal time to book flights as the ‘Goldilocks Window.’ At this time travelers can expect to find some of the best deals of local and international flights.

They also suggest that waiting until the last minute to book your flight is never a good idea.

Waiting to buy at the last moment often means missing out on lowest fares or risking not being able to get a flight on the day you prefer.

What is the ‘Goldilocks Window?’

For domestic flights the optimal time to book is within one to three months before your preferred date.

For international flights this window is between two and eight months before you preferred date.

However, it is important to note that the window adjusts during the peak season when domestic flights change to between three and seven months and international flights change from between four to ten months.

Final thoughts

If possible, you should try to wait until the ‘Goldilocks Window’. You may see prices fluctuate a lot before that time and then they will drop to their lowest levels.
